Hot nail polish colors for summer...

the new OPI Pirates of the Caribbean summer 2011!

OPI has a new Pirates of the Caribbean inspired nail polish collection! This nail color collection includes a silver shatter topcoat to create a shattered look when applied over dry nail lacquer--so cool for summer! Many users of shatter polishes suggest applying a top coat over the dry shatter coat for a glossy finish and added durability!

For a shattered look:

First--apply 1-2 coats of nail color and let dry.

Next--apply a thin coat of shatter nail polish and let dry.

Finally--apply a clear top coat for added gloss and durability.

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s executive VP and artistic director, discussed the inspiration for the colors in this collection:

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides lacquers were inspired by a world filled with mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure and high-seas adventure. With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence.

This collection consists of 6 pastel creme polishes and a silver shatter crackle polish. I love the soft muted pastel shades--pastels are my summer choice for nail color! The Pirates of the Caribbean colors include: Skull & Glossbones, a pearly gray; Mermaid’s Tears, a jade green; Steady as She Rose, a baby pink; Planks a Lot, a striking purple; Sparrow Me the Drama, a cool pink; and Stranger Tides, a sage hue.

OPI will release the new collection just prior to the opening of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie which is May 20, 2011. So it will be available to purchase before we know it--it's rumored for a May 1st release--we'll have to wait and see!

Women's Designer Sandals Ankle-Strap Platform Wedge Tory Burch Summer 2011

Today I'm loving...

this Tory Burch swan-print summer wedge!

Aren't these fabulous Tory Burch summer wedge sandals! These are the Tory Burch Swan-Print Wedge Sandals-a high platform wedge sandal. The heels are five inches with a one-inch platform, so I guess you could say they're pretty high!

This sandal has a navy and white swan print on canvas with leather ankle straps and rope trim on the wedge heel. They have a gold-tone buckle at the ankle and a rubber sole.

I'm not so much for high wedges but it's fun to have at least a few pairs of high heel sandals for summer! I love how this shoe is styled with the denim shorts and the matching brown leather belt and bag! These sandals would be fabulous with most blue denim pieces for an earthy chic look!

Women's Swimwear One Piece Halter Style Swimsuit Bathing Suit Summer 2011

It's bathing suit time again...

and I'm loving this one-piece halter swimsuit!

Yes, it's getting to be that time of year when we begin to think about swimwear and in the course of my thinking I discovered this fabulous one-piece suit designed by Red Carter at Anthropologie.

Isn't this a hot bathing suit! Coupled with the halter top styling, the every-which-way stripes make this a super flattering one-piece suit! I do love a one-piece suit-I'm not twenty anymore and I think a one-piece controls and covers things that I need controlled and covered! I also don't think a two-piece suit is necessary for a bit of a sexy look-the halter top of this suit makes for as sexy a look as I need!

Today I'm loving this look I discovered at Net-a-Porter. Isn't this a sexy look with this Helmut Lang tank dress and the DKNY kitten heels!

The Helmet Lang tank dress has a minimalist vibe and would be a versatile wardrobe piece. This black cotton dress has a scoop neck and asymmetric cut which I love!

The ankle strap kitten heels are fabulous! Kitten heels have become a hot item for summer. I love a kitten heel for the comfort factor--and this look goes to show that with the right dress kitten heels can look sexy too! These black leather sandals have a 0.5 inch platform and 2.5 inch heel. They have crossover straps at the front, an open toe and a wide ankle strap. This particular style of shoe with the crossover straps in front never seem to go out of style!

I don't know about you but I just can't have too many flat leather sandals! I love having lots of styles and colors of sandals! I'm especially loving the flat ankle strap sandals that are so popular now-they're sexy and feminine and look good with shorts and dresses.

Today I'm especially loving the rustic peasant chic vibe of these huarache style sandals. The huarache, a woven leather sandal, originated centuries ago in Mexico and many versions of this shoe have been worn in this country for many years.

This updated ankle-strap flat huarache style sandal is the FRYE Kayla Huarache Ankle Sandal. This looks like the perfect casual sandal-a sandal to go with almost every casual summer outfit and it comes in lots of colors which is fabulous!

I was absolutely surprised by the fact that knee-high boots are all of a sudden a hot trend and selling like crazy this month especially in England until I heard it's because they're a favorite of Kate Middleton--she's become a bit of a trend setter since the engagement was announced--there are even some die-hard followers of Kate's fashion who are said to be afflicted with what's being called Middleton Mania.

it's easy to surmise that Kate truly loves knee-high boots since she has them on in almost every picture we see of her. She wears some flat knee-highs but most of her boots have a small heel.

The bottom picture shows Kate's mother and sister out shopping recently in Chelsea wearing their knee-high boots-so it does appear that the love of this style of boots does run in the Middleton family!

Today I'm loving these floral print dresses from Anthropologie for spring 2011.

You don't have to be going to a garden party to wear a floral print dress for spring and summer-floral prints are so hot and we're beginning to see them everywhere! They're so beautiful and summery--which is so welcome after a long winter!

Floral prints can be found in lots of colors from muted to bright and in every size print from very small to extra large so finding just the right floral dress shouldn't be difficult.

Floral prints were shown by Chanel, Miu Miu, Caroline Herrera, D&G, Anna Sui and other designers on the Spring 2011 Runways.

Love, love, love this Tory Burch Louisa bag-I spotted this gorgeous leather convertible bag today at Net-A Porter and just had to do a post about it!

I love the chic styling of this bag-the fabulous leather of the bag, the strap embellished with gold buckles and the gold logo!

What's so fabulous about this bag is that it can be worn in so many ways. With the gorgeous strap attached it's a cross-body messenger or a chic shoulder bag with a 18-inch drop. Double the strap and its a shorter, closer to the body shoulder bag. Remove the strap and its a fabulous fold-over clutch.

You all know that I love a versatile bag and this seems to have it all. This bag is also truly a bag for all seasons-it will be perfect with khakis and a myriad of colors for summer and will be fabulous with fall pieces.

Yes, these small mini cross-body shoulder strap bags are hot for 2011! And if you're like me you love the fact that these small bags are popular! A small bag is so practical in so many ways-I love a mini cross-body for shopping or running out to pick up something for lunch. I carry a small bag inside of my large bag-it holds my cash and credit cards and a lipstick so I have the essentials when I need them! When I'm runnng out I just grab it out of my larger bag and off I go-so very practical indeed!

These pictures from the 2011 spring runway should a variety of colors and styles of these small bags. With these little handbags so very hot they'll be lots of styles and colors of bags to choose from in the shops-I really can't wait to go shopping! When I'm choosing a mini bag I look for a quality leather bag with a long strap I can wear over my shoulder as a shoulder bag or as a cross-body bag. I especially like a chain style bag with a leather inset for over-the-shoulder and around the neck.

It's this time of year when I start to think about a summer fragrance and I've found these summer scents at Sephora. When I'm looking for a scent in general I usually look for something light and not too sweet. For summer, breezy ocean scents are appealing!

Finding the best scent--a fragrance you love and works for you can be a little tricky. My strategy is to visit my local Sephora with a list of fragrances I think I might like--and trying just a couple on at any one time--I especially love it if I can get a sample to try at home!

Here's a page I discovered at Sephora Online with a selection of light summer scents from which to choose.

My favorite fragrance right now is STELLANUDE by Stella McCartney--it's a light fragrance that I've been wearing daily since fall. My best description of this scent would be a light, soft floral. STELLANUDE has notes of Moroccan rose, grapefruit, white peony, pink pepper, precious vanilla, grey amber, and musk.
