Women's Fashion Trends Wearing Culottes Split-Skirts Skorts 2011 Pictures

Hot off the runway...

are these culotte looks from Gucci for Fall 2011!

The culotte is back! The most recent culotte craze was in the 60s and 70s, but this style of pant goes all the way back to the middle-ages! In the middle-ages these short pants were worn by men and called knee-breeches. In the late-nineteenth century this short pant took the form of a long split shirt which became the popular riding garb of women who wanted to ride astride like a man rather than side-saddle.

The fact that the culotte is back makes me very happy-I'm a culotte lover-I've worn culottes even when they haven't been a hot style item! Sometimes you'll see culottes referred to as pantaloons or skorts-combining the words shorts and skirts. No matter what they're called, today's culotte is a knee-length split or divided skirt that's usually pleated at the waist.

The culotte looks pictured are from the Gucci Pre-Fall 2011 Runway. I love the styling of these looks with the knee-high boots! If you love these looks as much as I do, give the culotte a try. A good fitting wool or corduroy culotte can be an essential piece for a fall and winter wardrobe.

this vintage leather satchel!

Isn't this a beautiful leather satchel. I love a beautiful leather bag and this one almost makes me drool! This See by Chloé satchel is preppy with a feminine vibe! This satchel has gold hardware, a top handle, a cross-body strap, and a fold-over flap front. This roomy bag is 13" wide, 11" high, and 7" deep-large enough for everyday use. I love the toffee color, the feminine scallop detailing and the versatility of this bag-it can be carried as a satchel or worn cross-body!

Everyone know how much I love a cross-body bag! A satchel like this would be hot with a nice trouser and a tweed jacket! A great professional bag! I discovered this Poya vintage leather satchel at Net-A-Porter.

Closet Organization Shoe Wall Storage Cabinet via Ikea Bookcase

Today I'm loving...

this dream shoe wall storage unit!

Isn't this a dream storage unit for shoes! I've tried just about every option for shoes but none seems to work-either shoes are squished and get damaged or they're disorganized! I also really hate it when I can't see what I have which is what I have going on now in my closet with so many pairs of shoes in boxes! The fabulous piece pictured here, which seems to me to be the perfect shoe storage unit was built by the husband of Jane Keltner de Valle of Teen Vogue.

Geri Hirsch of Because I'm Addicted (where I discovered this unit) suggested this shelving unit as a good substitute for a handmade unit and it does look good to me. I'm off to Ikea to check this out!

Today I'm loving this very large-17"H x 22"W x 4"D beaded tote type bag for it's artsy African tribal vibe. Ethnic tribal pieces are very hot right now so this bag would be a perfect accessory for spring and summer. Worn with khaki pants, a white blouse, and black jacket this bag would be stunning. This bag is dark canvas with leather handles and is encrusted with chevron and zigzag seed beads. I discovered this large beaded bag at Anthropologie.

Hats continue to be a hot fashion item for spring and summer. Over the past couple of years hats have become larger as we've become used to seeing and wearing them! The wide-brimmed floppy felt hat is especially hot right now. Here's Kate Moss wearing a large floppy hat while out shopping in Paris this week. I'm not too much of a hat person, but I love this look. As spring and summer approach we'll be seeing lots of wide-brimmed straw hats. These large hats do serve a practical purpose- they give us large protection from the sun!

What's in for 2011...

a new longer slightly cropped capri pant!

Here is the new hot length in what is being called a capri pant for 2011. Much longer than what we think of as the traditional capri, this version is cut just below the calf. I happen to love this length especially for a casual look. The look pictured above shows this pant length in a dressier look-and with a more conservative shoe, this look would be appropriate for business.


Roll up your jeans to just below the calf for a casual look in the new capri length.

Yes, the latest looks in make-up from the spring 2011 runway include classic red lips and nails! The makeup looks pictured here are from the Gucci spring 2011 fashion show. Makeup artist for the show Pat McGrath blended together three shades of red lipstick to get just the right orangey red she was looking for. She was looking to create a hot seductive look and I think she succeeded! M.A.C. nail polish in Shirelle was used on fingernails and toenails for the perfect red color!

Red lipstick can work for just about anyone with the right shade for their complexion. This orangey red color looks best on someone with a complexion with yellow undertones, and a more berry color red works for complexions with pink undertones. I have a warm complexion with yellow undertones so a more orange red is perfect for me. I especially love red lipstick with navy blue for a chic classic look!

Women's Fashion Handbag Trends The Belt Purse Spring Summer 2011 Runway Pictures

  A hot fashion trend for spring...

these very cool looking leather belt purses!

Yes, believe it or not there's a new and fabulous version of the fanny pack, now called the belt purse, hot for spring and summer 2011. One of the latest accessory trends, these belt purses are no longer nylon like the packs of the past, they are beautiful leather and beautifully made.

I'm looking forward to getting a really nice leather version of the fanny pack! I hate to admit it but there are times when I really enjoy wearing a fanny pack for hands-free shopping. Most of the time now I use a small cross-body bag which more or less serves the same purpose.

I love these looks with belt purses from the Spring 2011 Runway. Worn with pants and skirts-some belt purses are worn higher up and others lower down over the hips.
