Hot nail polish colors for summer...

the new OPI Pirates of the Caribbean summer 2011!

OPI has a new Pirates of the Caribbean inspired nail polish collection! This nail color collection includes a silver shatter topcoat to create a shattered look when applied over dry nail lacquer--so cool for summer! Many users of shatter polishes suggest applying a top coat over the dry shatter coat for a glossy finish and added durability!

For a shattered look:

First--apply 1-2 coats of nail color and let dry.

Next--apply a thin coat of shatter nail polish and let dry.

Finally--apply a clear top coat for added gloss and durability.

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s executive VP and artistic director, discussed the inspiration for the colors in this collection:

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides lacquers were inspired by a world filled with mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure and high-seas adventure. With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence.

This collection consists of 6 pastel creme polishes and a silver shatter crackle polish. I love the soft muted pastel shades--pastels are my summer choice for nail color! The Pirates of the Caribbean colors include: Skull & Glossbones, a pearly gray; Mermaid’s Tears, a jade green; Steady as She Rose, a baby pink; Planks a Lot, a striking purple; Sparrow Me the Drama, a cool pink; and Stranger Tides, a sage hue.

OPI will release the new collection just prior to the opening of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie which is May 20, 2011. So it will be available to purchase before we know it--it's rumored for a May 1st release--we'll have to wait and see!
